The Association of Croatian American Professionals Foundation (ACAP) will once again sponsor the Domovina Birthright Program. This one-of-a-kind summer school offers young adults of Croatian descent, aged 18 to 30, a unique opportunity to delve into their Croatian heritage, explore the country’s beauty, and forge lasting connections with fellow Croatian peers.
Organized by the Croatian government in partnership with ACAP, this 14-day cultural and educational immersion tour of Croatia aims to strengthen ties between Croatia and Croatian communities worldwide while fostering solidarity among Croatian youth from diverse diaspora communities. The all-inclusive cost of the program is $1,000.
Participants will embark on a transformative journey throughout Croatia, beginning in Zagreb and concluding in Dubrovnik. The itinerary includes visits to cities such as Split, Varazdin, Vukovar, Knin, Skabrnja, Virovitica, as well as national parks, islands, castles, museums, and other sites of historic and cultural significance.
One of the highlights of the program is the opportunity for participants to engage with Croatian peers, immersing themselves in the country’s popular culture, music, and cuisine. Past participants from Argentina, Australia, Canada, Peru, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States have lauded the program for its profound impact on their sense of identity and belonging.
Reflecting on their experience, a past participant expressed, “The Domovina Birthright Program allowed me to discover the depth of my Croatian identity and form connections that transcend borders. It truly felt like a Croatian was born within me.”
Limited financial support is available through scholarships, with details provided in the application packet.
