Luka Ignac is a Croatian student at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Luka is pursuing a B.A. in Political Science and French. He is a recipient of a prestigious Vera Scholarship, and has been awarded Dean’s recognition for 2 years in a row. Previously, Luka has participated in Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellowship and conducted his first U.S. Embassy funded project during his senior year of high school. Afterwards, Ignac has been active in non-profit sector advocating for youth mobility and transatlantic cooperation. In October 2107, Ignac has participated at the Clinton Global Initiative Univesity, where he had a chance to meet former President Bill Clinton. Just recently he has completed an internship at the Embassy of Croatia in Washington D.C. and is preparing to be a delegate of Croatia at the One Young World Summit in Den Haag, Netherlands.
Besides being active in non-profit and government sector, Luka is also an autour an coauthore of several policy proposals published in RETA journal.
Studying in the U.S. has always been a dream for Luka, who has used this opportunity to expand his horizons, and affirm himself both in Academia and in professional environment. Luka is active in leadership of numerous campus organizations, most importantly as a president of European Horizons chapter at DePauw University, President of Model UN Club, and an intern at the Prindle Institute for Ethics, where he helped organize and plan events, advise Institute’s Director, and contributed to The Prindle Post.
Currently, Luka is doing a study abroad program in Brussels, Belgium where he is working on his French and starting an internship on EU funded research at the University of Louvain-la-Neuve.
