I am dual citizen of Switzerland and Croatia and I came to the U.S. as an international student in 2002, graduated from Adelphi University, Long Island, New York, in 2005 and obtained my Bachelor in Business Administration. Immediately after graduation I started working and I was lucky enough to find an employer that sponsored my H1B work visa.
In March 2009 I gave birth in NYU to a beautiful little baby-girl. Her father (U.S. Citizen) and I never got married and I therefore didn’t obtain the green-card. Shortly after she was born we separated and ever since I am taking care of my daughter on my own. My H1B visa expired in September 2010 and I had to leave NYC, and returned with my daughter to Switzerland where we presently reside.
Ever since we returned to Switzerland I’ve been looking for opportunities to come back to the U.S. In order to be able to work, live and provide a home and education for my daughter I have to have permission to work in the U.S. Looking for an H1B visa sponsor remotely (out of Switzerland) is very difficult, and being single mother with a 100% job on top of that makes it almost impossible. Therefore, almost seven years later, we are still in Switzerland, with our hearts beating for the U.S.
We visit as often as we can, and we keep in touch with family and friends in the states. My cousins, my aunt, as well as my daughter’s family live in NYC and are US citizens. My daughter is US citizen and now as she is getting older I can see how much of the American culture and spirit she inherited. I myself spent almost 10 years in NYC and I became an adult in this city that I love and call home.
My record is clean, my credit is great, I have a good education and my work references are excellent. All I am looking for help to make my dream come true and be able to work and live in the U.S. and a chance for my daughter to grow up in America.
