EBAN Winter University Conference – Zagreb 2016

Published: December 9, 2016

Congratulations to CroAmPro Member Davorin Stetner for successfully leading the efforts to organize the European Business Angels Network (EBAN) 2016 Winter University conference in Zagreb.

EBAN holds an annual Winter University conference in Europe, gathering entrepreneurs and investors from the tech start-up community, and past host cities have included Copenhagen and Helsinki.  This year, the conference was hosted by the City of Zagreb and it was a tremendous success.   With almost 2,000 attendees, the Zagreb conference far exceeded the turnout at prior years’ EBAN Winter University events.

This event was a game-changer for the entrepreneurs and other stakeholders in the global Croatian community.  Davorin and his team at the Croatian Business Angel Network performed an incredible job with showcasing the visionary entrepreneurial and angel investing activity taking place in Croatia and in the global Croatian community at large.

The conference featured speakers from all over the world – Europe, Africa, the Middle East and North America.

President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic gave the opening Keynote Address to the audience, providing her support for encouraging a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in Croatia.

Mark Begich, former U.S. Senator of Alaska and the President of CroAmPro’s Government, Politics & Public Service Section, spoke on the “Governments are Game Changers” panel, discussing the ways governments can help foster innovation and entrepreneurship.

Mauro Viskovic, a New York start-up business attorney and the President of CroAmPro’s Legal Section, moderated the “How to Scale Globally” panel, which featured accomplished entrepreneurs sharing their insights and experiences in scaling up their ventures on a global level.

Congratulations again to Davorin for organizing an amazing event.  His efforts have significantly advanced the entrepreneurial and early stage investment ecosystem in the global Croatian community.
