Breakout Session on Status of Croats in Bosnia & Herzegovina to be held at 2nd Annual Conference in Chicago

CHICAGO, April 21, 2017 – The Association of Croatian American Professionals announced that a breakout session on the Status of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be held at the 2nd Annual ACAP Conference.

The session will bring together civil service officers, policy experts, researchers, and advocates to engage in a broad discussion on the current political and economic issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina generally, with a focus on Croatian political leaders, legal and political issues, potential solutions to constitutional questions, role of the international community, and economic and investment challenges.

The goal of the session will be to review how the Diaspora can help engage with these issues and explore whether ACAP should establish a taskforce to promote issue awareness, educate stakeholders, and partner with other Croatian organizations to promote the interests of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Conference Committee has extended invitations to Croatian EU Parliamentarians (attendance not confirmed).

Mr. Valentino Grbavac, a graduate student at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, will provide an overview of today’s most pressing issues. Mr. Grbavac recently published a book titled Unequal Democracy: The Political Position of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Mostar; IDPI, 2016).
